BAIRD, VICTOR A. - (1951 - 2012) - It is with sadness that we announce the death of Victor A. Baird, formerly of Perth-Andover, NB on December 18, 2012 after a courageous battle with liver disease. He was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Robert Baird and one sister-in-law, Marilyn. Survived by sister Frances (Warren) DeMerchant, brothers Roy (Linda), Alfred (Charlene), Jim (Linda), half-sisters Vicki (Doug) Skinner and Pam Baird, as well as special cousins Dawn Bishop and Vicki Gregory and other cousins, uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces. He graduated from Southern Victoria High School in Perth-Andover, NB, received his BA at Mount Allison University, and his B.Ed. at the University of Calgary. He was a career Elementary School Teacher with the Calgary School Board where he made many lasting friendships. He retired in 2008. He enjoyed his extended family, as well as his summer and Christmas visits home in NB. Victor was an Anglican and a committed Christian. He was also an ardent sports fan and loved his beloved Red Sox and the Calgary Flames. We wish to thank the Doctors and Nurses at the Foothills Hospital, Calgary, and the University Hospital in Edmonton for their excellent care, and we also appreciated the visits and comfort from his many friends.
Cremation will take place and a Memorial Service will be held in Calgary in mid January 2013, followed by interment at the Larlee Creek Cemetery, Perth-Andover, NB in the spring. For those who wish, donations in Victor's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
