Born in Ottawa Brook, she was the daughter of the late John Benedict and Annie Catherine (MacKenzie) MacLean.
Family meant everything to Sheila, from her beloved husband Earl to her children and grandchildren. With a large family of brothers and sisters, her door was always open for a cup of tea, both in her home in Bras d’Or or the cottage in Washabuck. In the summers she could always be found on the beach in Washabuck, visor on and grandchildren playing around her.
A devout member of the Catholic church, Sheila took great joy in teaching religious education. During this time she continued as religious education co-ordinator for St. Joseph’s Church, Bras d’Or, until her retirement. She was very active in the church youth group, many diocesan committees as well in the foundation of the Thomas More Society.
