Margaret Ann 'Maggie' Burns

Born In: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada

Passed on: December 21st, 2012

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. Margaret Anne Burns, 46, of Glace Bay, and formerly of Dominion passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of Michael and Muriel (Boyd) Burns of Dominion, and was a member of St. Eugene’s Church.
Maggie was a former employee with Spiegel Catalog in New Waterford where she worked for several years before retiring due to her illness. She would be the first person families in the Dominion area would see or hear from at difficult times; always putting the needs of others, before her own. Maggie had a true zest for life, enjoying Dominion’s annual Seaside-Daze and the times spent at events at the Dominion Hawks Club, where she was known to be an honorary member. She will also be remembered for her love of ‘dressing up’; making costumes for herself, her family and friends for all occasions.
Maggie will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Daniel Seguin; son, Phillip at home; stepdaughter, Isabelle, Ontario. Also surviving are her parents, Michael and Muriel (Boyd) Burns of Dominion; brothers, Dennis (Susan), Dominion, Michael (Frieda) and Christopher (Ashley), both of Edmonton; sisters, Brenda (John) Helle, Fort McMurray, and Joan (Glenn) McLaren, Calgary; grand-aunt, Tenie who resided with Maggie; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends from across Canada.
Besides her maternal and paternal grandparents, she was also predeceased by special aunts, Nora and Mamie.
In honoring Margaret Anne’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating, with interment at a later date. Following the funeral service all are invited to join the family at a reception in St. Eugene’s Parish Hall, Dominion.
Memorial donations in Margaret Anne’s memory may be made to the Arthritis Society, the MS Society or a charity of one’s choice.
Online condolences to the Burns and Seguin families are available through www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
