Mary Anne "Annie" Stewart

It is with deep sadness that we must announce the peaceful passing of Mary Anne "Annie" Stewart, age 97, of Truro, formerly of Amherst, NS. Annie passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Cedarstone Enhanced Care in Truro.


Born in Amherst, NS, she was a daughter of the late Andre and Philomene (Mallet) Breau.


Annie was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. She loved to play cards, dance, fish and travel. She was also a member of the Good Neighbors Seniors Club. She was frequently known to be at the mall Food Court enjoying a coffee.


She is survived by several nieces and nephews; step-daughter Joan Whippie, Salisbury, NB; and Brother-In-Law, Aubrey MacInnes, Onslow, NS.


The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by her husband Lloyd; brothers James and Alfred; sisters Jean Goring, Catherine Feeley, Helen Smith, Yvonne Merritt and infant Mary.


Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst (902-667-8777). Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 9:30 am until the time of Mass at 11 am in the Chapel at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Prince St., Truro. Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately following visitation in the Church at 11 am, Rev. Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery, Amherst, in the spring.
