Joan Pauline (Fitzgerald) MacEachern

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we lost our Mom today, Joan MacEachern, who battled cancer for a long time.
Joan was the daughter of the late Emery and Mary (MacIntosh) Fitzgerald.
She was predeceased by her husband, Russell James MacEachern, their eldest son, Lionel Stewart MacEachern and her brother, Angus Kelsin Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her four sons, Chris (Sherri), Ottawa, Ont., Lionel Hamilton, Ont., Jodi (Carbella) and Gussie (Nancy), both of Dingwall. Also survived by sisters, Marie Dixon, Dartmouth, Eliza Dixon, White Point, Peggy Purdy, Cape North, Doris (Walt) Fraser, Pleasant Bay, Joyce (Scott) Brown, Dingwall; her five brothers, Angus, Hughie, Dingwall, John, Daryl and Timmy, all of Sydney. She had four grandsons, Devin and Joshua, Ottawa, Ont., Andrew, Ingonish, and Dougie, Dingwall.
She is also survived by her true friend John who was an angel at her side during her illness and her stepmom Mary. She would like to acknowledge two special friends in her life, cousin Kelly Fitzgerald and Peggy Morrison, both from Dingwall. She has three daughters-in-law. ‘There can never be daughters as good and who were true to their mother-in-law.’
The family would like to thank all that have been involved with her care and those that provided assistance so our mother could stay at home during her illness. Special thanks to Doctors Ritter and Murray, nurses Wanda, Pauline, Jackie, Mary and Sally in making it possible.
Joan will be cremated and buried beside her husband Russell in the Dingwall Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, both at St. Joseph’s Parish Church in Dingwall with Fr. Ajit Kerketta officiating.
