John Daniel Crawford, 26 Cooke St., Sydney Mines, passed away Dec. 23, 2012, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines, Oct. 23, 1941, he was the son of the late James and Rose (Hyde) Crawford.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Ronalda (Rod) Lemmon and Roseanne Crawford.
He is survived by his daughter, Marina Crawford, Dartmouth; his brothers, James and Keight Crawford, Sydney Mines; his sister, Lucille Crawford, Oromocto, N.B.; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his special grandnephews, James and Aiden Crawford, who loved to spend many hours with their uncle Daniel, who in turn taught them about friendship, the arts, science and the mysteries of the universe.
Daniel’s passions in life were photography and astronomy or anything science-related. He was employed as a photographer at Fortress Louisbourg for 15 years, and worked at various other photography assignments over the years.
There will be no visitation. A graveside service will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. in Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines, with Deacon Gregory Murphy officiating.
