Passed away peacefully, but suddenly at the HSC, Ed McCarthy of Labrador City, formerly of Renews. Predeceased by his parents; Paddy and Mary (Cahill) McCarthy, brothers John and Gerard. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife and best friend of 28 years Patricia (Berrigan), his children: Darlene McCarthy (Billy Coombs), Donna Dinn (John), Dane McCarthy, Rod McCarthy (Sharlene). His step-children, Gwen Brophy (Keith Cahill) and Scott Brophy (Amanda Rodway). Also leaving to mourn his grandchildren; Lenny McCarthy; Chantal English; Gage McCarthy; Amanda Quinn, Darlene, Jonathan, Elishia and Devinn Dinn; Paddy, Rebecca, and Morgan McCarthy; Tanner Coady and Tiber Brophy, along with his 9 great-grandchildren. Also mourning his loss are his brothers, sister and sister-in-law; Kieran McCarthy (Blanche), Eugene McCarthy (Marion), Bertha Thorne and Mabel McCarthy and their families. As well as his mother-in-law, Madeline Berrigan, sisters-in-law, Barbara Kenny (Hubert), Molly Stacey (Kevin), Eileen Broderick (Bill) and Lois Berrigan (Jim Lawlor) and their families. Also leaving a large circle of family and friends, especially former coworkers of IOCC United Steelworkers Local 5795. Resting at Fahey’s Funeral Home in Fermeuse, Wednesday, December 26th from
3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27th from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday, December 28th from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at Holy Apostles Church, Renews at
11:00 am on December 28th. Interment to follow. No flowers by request. Donations can be made to the Holy Apostles Church Properties – for restoration and upkeep of the church and grotto in Renews, or a charity of your choice.
