Passed peacefully away at her residence on Tuesday, December 25, 2012, Monica Shortt of Kingston, age 99 years. Predeceased by husband: Francis; infant son; brothers: Bernard and Joe; sisters: Gertrude, Alice, Julia, Sarah and Mary. Leaving to mourn, four daughters: Patricia (John) Roul, Blackhead, Catherine Bramwell, Carbonear, Mary (Terry) Maddox, Adam’s Cove and Sarah ‘Sadie’ Shortt, Kingston; five sons: Stanislaus (Patricia), Placentia, Francis ‘Rock’, Burnt Point, Patrick (Fay), Adam’s Cove, Ronald, Edmonton, AB and John ‘Terry’ (Joanne), Mount Pearl; nineteen grandchildren: Sheila (Mark), Debbie, Valerie (Paul), Daniel (Melissa), Kari-Lynn, Kenny (Charlene), Barry (Kelly), Jason, Rhonda, Ryan, Colin, Jacqueline, David (Sheila), Bryan, Matthew (Lori), Rebecca, Michael, Monica (Henry) and Frances; twenty-three great-grandchildren; nieces: Dorothy Judge, Carbonear, Annie Traverse, Kingston, Isabelle Mullaly, Northern Bay, and Elizabeth (John) Gorrigan, Massachusetts, USA; Claudine Roberts and Mary Davis, both of St. John’s and Ann Warren, BC; nephew: Albert Rudolph (Jennie) Jenkins, Western Bay; great-niece: Julia Gertrude Demarce, Western Bay; special friends: Joanne Pike and Evelyn Shortt, Kingston; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel’s Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Thursday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral mass to take place on Saturday, December 29 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kingston. Interment in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Kingston. As an expression of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the North Shore Central Ambulance Fund.
