Cheryl MacSween
Passed on: December 26th, 2012
We are sad to announce the passing of Olive Cheryl MacSween on December 26, 2012 , daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Boutilier of Glace Bay.
Cheryl passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Cheryl’s kind heart and generous spirit were obvious to all those who knew her. She cherished her roles as wife, mother and grandmother and took pride in her work as a CNA in Hamilton, ON as well as at St. Joseph's Hospital and Seaview Manor in Glace Bay. An active member of St. Anne's parish, she strove to fill each day with faith and good works.
She is survived by her loving husband Leo and her beloved uncles and aunts, James and Veronica Stonier of Glace Bay and Sybil and Earl Van Dyke of Idaho; her children Caroline (Bobby) Ross of Burlington ON, Leigh Ann (Paul Emon) of Arnprior ON, Roderick of Glace Bay; and her grandchildren Stephen and Killian of ON; her cousin Karen (Harry) Gouthro who was like a sister; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
We would like to thank the staff of the Cape Breton Cancer Center; Drs. Ritter and Burns and RN Michelle Murphy with the Palliative Care team who treated Cheryl as if she was their own mother; the VON nurses involved in Cheryl’s care at home and all of the nurses of the An Cala unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital who took great care of us all during our most difficult days.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be held Monday, December 31 at 10 a.m. at St Anne’s church in Glace Bay. The Rev. Leo Boone will be officiating.
