The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday, May 18, 2008, of Mrs. Florence C. Doiron (nee Roper) of Stratford, age 83 years. Veteran of the Second World War. Beloved wife of the late Leonard Doiron. Dear mother of Heather (Eric) Bowlan of Stratford and stepmother of Carol (Walter) Jones of Corner Brook, N.L. Florence is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Mark (Rhonda) Bowlan, Jeffery (Nancy) Bowlan and Leanne (Mike Mullin) Bowlan. Her stepgrandchildren, Sarah Jones, Andrew and Benjamin Moore; her great-grandchildren Taylor, Tristan, Chandler, and Connor Bowlan, and her sister, Irene Kassner. She was predeceased by her stepdaughter Rose Moore and sisters Vera Roper, Dorothy Douse, Ruth Smith and her brother, Waldron Roper. Resting at the Cutcliffe Funeral Home until Wednesday afternoon, then transferred to Zion Presbyterian Church for funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment to follow in the family plot at Sherwood Cemetery. If so desired, memorial tributes in Florence’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Tuesday 2– 4 and 7–9 p.m. Members of Charlottetown branch #1 of the Royal Canadian Legion will gather at the funeral home Tuesday evening for a veteran’s tribute service at 6:45 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.islandowned.ca
