Phyllis Emily Snow (Cramm)

Passed on: December 29th, 2012

Passed away peacefully after a short illness at the Dartmouth General Hospital, Dartmouth, NS on Saturday, December 29, 2012 in her 85th year. Predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Ernest W. Snow; brothers: Ralph (Hilda); Douglas and Mark (Verna). Leaving to mourn, her son Douglas and wife Anita, Kingsville, On.; brother Gerald and wife Margaret, Calgary, Ab.; loving grandchildren: Seann and wife Gretchen, Middle Sackville, NS and Kimberley and husband Brynly Hawkins, Glen Williams, On.; great-grandchildren: Emma & Henry, Glen Williams, On.; Kaitlyn & Corbin, Middle Sackville, NS. Also survived by a special sister-in-law, Margaret (Calvin) Snow, Bay Roberts; brothers-in-law: Jack Snow, Bay Roberts; Jim (Lise) Snow, St. Agustin, Que.; sisters-in-law Cynthia Mullaly, Gander; Ann (Chris) Boone, Cole Harbour, NS; Olive (Gord) MacDonald, Toronto, On.; 15 nephews and 16 nieces and a large circle of friends and relatives. Phyllis was born on August 15, 1927 in Heart’s Content, NF, the only surviving daughter of the late Bertram and Evelyn (Legge) Cramm. She entered Teachers College at Memorial University and taught in Isle aux Morts and Bell Island before moving to Bay Roberts where she met her future husband Ern, and settled down to raise her family. She loved teaching and was one of the first teachers at the first interdenominational “Amalgamated School” in Bay Roberts. She taught there for approximately 35 years until her grandson, Seann completed Kindergarten and retired in 1983. To many residents of Bay Roberts and area she is still affectionately remembered as “My Kindergarten Teacher”. To her son, Doug and daughter-in-law Anita she was the “best mother” anyone could have and will be always with them. Although she loved all her family very much, she kept a special place in her heart for her brother Gerald & wife Margaret and her two grandchildren: Seann & Kim as well as their spouses: Gretchen & Brynly. And when both Seann and Kim had a son and daughter each (her great-grandchildren) there was lots more love to spread around. She will be deeply missed as a devoted member of the Snow and Cramm family. There will be a memorial service at Parkland on the Lakes Seniors Residence, Dartmouth, NS on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013 where she happily resided for the past two years. Cremation has taken place. On line condolences can be made at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home web site at www.mattatallfuneralhome.com A Celebration of Life Service will take place at Central United Church, Bay Roberts July 2013, accompanied by her family, with internment next to her husband, Ernest. Details pertaining to donations in her memory will be announced at that time.
