Helen May (Howell) Hewitt of St. Thomas passed away on Wednesday Jan. 2, 2013, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital in her 87th year.
Dearly loved wife for over 66 years of Robert ‘Bob’ Hewitt and loving mother of Lina and her husband Dave Erskine of St. Thomas, Harry Hewitt of London, Brenda Hewitt of London, Dale Hewitt and his partner Sherry and David and his wife Pattie Hewitt all of St. Thomas.
Predeceased by son, Thomas Roy Hewitt (1961).
Loved grandmother of David Erskine, Lisa Taylor, Laurie Hewitt, Shawn Hewitt, Christian Hewitt, Cameron Hewitt, Breanna Hewitt, Becky Hewitt and Patrick Kinney and by six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Loved sister of Thomas Howell of St. Thomas. Sadly missed by a number of family in Sydney, N.S., and Newfoundland.
Helen was also predeceased by brothers, Melvin, Clarence and Harry.
She was born April 24, 1926, in Sydney, the daughter of the late Thomas and Louise Howell. Helen was a member of Lord Elgin Branch #41 Royal Canadian Legion and the Cape Breton Navy Veterans Association.
Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas, where funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery. Visitation Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
