CREAM, Jack Charmane “Jackie” – 85, North River, passed away suddenly and peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at home. Born July 2, 1927, in Truro, he was of the late John “Jack” and Beatrice (Darlington) Cream. Jackie was a skilled craftsman and worked as a cabinetmaker with Spencer Brother and Turner and then went on to work with Department of Public Works from where he retired. When Jackie wasn’t doing something with his best friend, Charlie McNally, fishing, four wheeling or bring visited by Wally Parsons or Nick Crowell, he enjoyed tinkering in his workshop and made beautiful rocking chairs and grandfather clocks that he gave to family and friends. Jackie is survived by his children, Arden Cream, North River; Beth (Jack) Keirstead, Bill (Diane) Cream, Onslow Mountain; grandchildren, Doug (Kayla), Rebecca, Sarah (Mitch), Lloyd (Beth), Brian (Patricia), Lisa (Barry); great grandson, Daxtin; many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Beatrice Marie (Blair), November 2012; siblings, Ralph “Ducky” Cream, Harold (Peg) Cream, Marjorie (Ed) Gehring, Helen (Francis “Ick”) Guinan. Special thanks are extended to family doctor, Dr. Harold Berghuis, for making the house call when Jackie was unable to get out. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Jackie’s family will receive friends from 12-12:45 p.m., Sunday, January 6, 2013, followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m., Reverend Kym Burke-Cole officiating. Interment in North River United Church Cemetery. Reception will follow in North River United Church Hall. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Jackie’s memory to Lung Association of Nova Scotia or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
