The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, of “Ted” Gilbert Edward Picard of Summerside and formerly of Kensington, aged 92 years. Veteran of World War II. Ted was born on Nov. 26, 1920, in Winnipeg, MB., to his late parents Arthur and Marie (nee Morier) Picard. Beloved husband of the late “Lou” Luella (nee Peterson) Picard and loving father of Gary of Edmonton, AB., Cheryl Picard (Charles Silliphant) of Ottawa, ON., Judith MacLellan of Summerside, Rick (Joanne) of Ottawa, ON., Robert (Mary) of Summerside, and Brenda Picard of Mount Stewart. Also lovingly remembered by his 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and one "adopted” granddaughter. Survived by his sisters Aileen Robinson and Jan Bedard of Winnipeg, MB. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Saturday, Jan. 5, then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, for a funeral mass at 1:30 p.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Visiting hours on Friday evening only, 6-9 p.m. Memorial donations in Ted’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to St. Paul’s Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, George R. Pearkes, V.C. Branch # 5, Summerside, will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home on Friday evening at 5:45 p.m. Online condolences can be sent to epfuneral@eastlink.ca.
