Elaine Falstead

Elaine Falstead Elaine Falstead

Elaine Frances Falstead, daughter of George and Orla Falstead (pre deceased ), was born on November 24, 1946 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

Mom passed away in Edmonton, AB at the age of 66. She will be missed by four loving daughters: Cia Babiy (Mark) of Windsor, ON; Jill Monahan (Shawn) of Saskatoon, SK, Lisa Hunter (Bob) of Edmonton, AB & Rebecca Leblanc (David) of Edmonton, AB. Mom was a proud grandmother to Josh (Katie), Kyle and Connor Monahan; Mark and Ryan Hunter; and Liam Leblanc. She was so thrilled to be expecting her first great-grandchild (Monahan). She was also an amazing and loved sister to Shirley Falstead (Ray), Phyllis Bleier (Len), and Linda Falstead.

Mom spent her childhood years on a farm in the R.M. Buckland. She was the daughter of two World War II veterans and was the eldest of their four daughters. Growing up she loved to dance and always dressed in the latest fashions. Her sisters were her best friends in life and she visited them often. She loved Saskatchewan, but spent her last 5 years in Edmonton in order to be closer to family.

Mom struggled with MS throughout her life, but that wasn't enough to hold back her independent spirit. Mom has seen Canada from coast to coast, volunteered in her community and raised four beautiful daughters. Mom was always so willing to accept whatever life had to throw at her and she did it with a smile. Elaine lived on this earth, loved the smell of the rain, cried and laughed with loved ones and enjoyed spicy foods. She was a graceful, funny, spirited, caring, smart woman and will be missed by all that knew her.

Mom passed away on a warm December 28th evening after a 2 year battle with cancer with her daughters and sisters by her side. Even in death her positivity and grace prevailed. Although she is gone she wanted everyone to know that "life is meant to be lived" and "it's never too late to be making memories."

If roses grow in Heaven
Lord please pick a bunch for me
Place them in my mother's arms
And tell her they're from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her
And when she turns to smile
Place a kiss upon her cheek
And hold her for awhile.

Rest in Peace mom. You will be missed.

A spring memorial will be held in Prince Albert in keeping with her wishes.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
