Born: May 15th, 1928
Passed on: January 8th, 2013
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sheroo Rusi Buhariwalla, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, on Jan. 8, 2013 at the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Sheroo was born on May 15, 1928 in Bombay, India to the late Goolbai and Nusservanji Keravala. She received her masters in social work from Bombay University in 1956 and worked as a pediatric social worker for 14 years. In 1972, she moved with her family to Canada. Although she missed home, Sheroo embraced her new life in Nova Scotia. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, playing cards and shopping for jewelry. Her favourite pastime, however, was spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved unconditionally.
Sheroo is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Rusi Buhariwalla; sons, Farokh (Refina) and Reeshad, and her seven grandchildren, Colin, Catherine, Patricia, Margaret, Hannah, Connor, and Patrick. Also mourning her loss are her brother and sisters in India, Mehli (late Shirin) Keravala, Prochie (late Edul) Desai, Mithoo (late Rustom) Dubash of Karachi, and Rati (Yezad) Kapedia of Delhi.
She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Maki and Rusi Currawalla.
Sheroo also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as her trusted housekeeper and friend of 32 years, Evelyn Buris.
Sheroo was a kind, generous, and gracious lady who will be missed by all who knew her, especially her devoted husband, sons and grandchildren.
“Rest in peace Sheroo; your memory will be cherished in our hearts forever.”
A celebration of Sheroo's life will be held 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at Atlantic Funeral Homes, 771 Main St., Dartmouth followed by a reception.
