MOORE, DAVID PHILLIP - It is with heavy hearts that the family of David Phillip Moore announces his death on Tuesday, January 8th, 2013 at the age of 62. Born in Saint John, NB on September 30th, 1950, he was the beloved husband of Valerie Moore of Fredericton. Dave earned his BBA from UNB in 1972 and had a rewarding 35 year career as a mediator, retiring in 2010 as Director of Industrial Relations and Employment Standards, a position he held for 8 years. Dave loved the outdoors, sailing, skiing, hiking and biking. Dave spent the summers of his life at Sand Point and Buckley’s Cove, a river boy in the cherished places of his heart. In his retirement he took great pleasure in teaching skiing at Crabbe Mountain to children and disabled skiers through CADS as well as volunteering his time to the Fredericton Community Kitchen for Wilmot United Church. At home, David was a handyman extraordinaire who took on many projects, the latest being wooden Christmas gifts for his beloved grandchildren. He will be remembered by his family as an adoring husband, father, grandfather, and a man who truly valued his friends. Dave is survived by his wife of 40 years, Valerie (Somers) Moore; son, Steven Moore (Birte Paschen) of Revelstoke, BC; daughter, Julie Moore (Greg George) of Moncton, NB; grandchildren, Nika and Oscar Moore and Garrett George; mother, Joyce Mundee; brother, Donald Moore (Donna); step brother, Dean Mundee (Pam); sister in law, Dale Bates (Carl); brother in law, Donald Somers (Marilyn). Dave was predeceased by his father, Lloyd Moore and step father, Lawrence Mundee.
Visitation will take place at McAdam’s Funeral Home, 160 York St. on Friday, January 11th, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The memorial service will take place at Wilmot United Church on Saturday, January 12th at 2:00 pm with Rev. Rose-Hannah Gaskin officiating, assisted by Rev. John Roy. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave’s memory may be made to the CNIB, NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Fredericton Community Kitchen.
