PERRAULT: It is with a heavy heart, but with joyful memories that we announce the passing of Betty-Marie Perrault (Laturnus), wife, mother, sister, aunt, relative and friend. Betty passed away on January 2, 2013 at the Cypress Regional Hospital with her family by her side. She has battled various health issues throughout her life with grace and dignity. Betty refused to let the strokes conquer her; and in so many ways they did not. Her spirit and faith in God remained strong, as did her love for family and friends. She fought hard and tried with all her might. Each time she was faced with a new challenge, she met it head on. Her strength and courage were awe inspiring. Although she had difficulty speaking clearly, she had no trouble making herself understood. We all knew how much she loved us. She was so excited to see us and the many friends and family that came to spend time with her. Betty was born on May 21, 1946 to John and Anne Laturnus in Val Marie, SK. She was the oldest of 9 children. She attended school in Rosefield and Val Marie. On May 19, 1967 she married the love of her life, George Perrault in Val Marie. Two children followed: Brent in 1973 and Lana in 1980. Betty and George enjoyed the ranching and country life. Betty was involved in virtually every club and organization in Val Marie. Community involvement was something she took very seriously. This continued after the family moved to Swift Current in 1991. Betty worked at various jobs in Val Marie and Swift Current. No matter where she worked, she was loved by all. She always found a way to have fun and make connections with co-workers and customers. Betty’s interests were wide and varied. She enjoyed animals, softball, curling, gardening, photography, music, cake decorating, family vacations, bowling, sewing, crafts of all sorts and games of all varieties. Cards in particular. A good visit with family and friends over a cup of coffee was a favourite way to spend time. She could have a great visit with anyone. Betty loved keeping in touch with people and talking on the phone was a great way to do this. She was not a morning person, but could be found up late at night working on her latest craft project. Betty took great pride in her family and children and always had a special way of interacting with her nieces, nephews and all children. The funeral service was held in Swift Current on Monday, January 7th at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Ronald Andree officiating. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Swift Current. Memorial donations may be made in Betty’s honour to the Canadian Diabetes Assoc. or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
