BENSON, S. ALLISON - 1935 – 2013 - Mr. S. Allison Benson of St. Stephen, NB passed away at the Charlotte County Hospital Thursday January 10, 2013. He was born of the late Ottawa and Hildred (Brown) Benson on Grand Manan Island. Working for Connors Bros. for 34 years where he worked hard to provide for his wife and children. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, feeding the birds, old time country & western music, woodworking, listening to his scanner,his sense of humor and spending time with his family. He will be remembered most for being a very kind, content man that never complained, being thankful for what he had, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Allison is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Lois (Dean) Benson of St. Stephen. His five daughters; Linda Hannan (John) of St. Stephen, Charmaine Taylor (Dwight) of Grand Manan, Amy Stewart (Bruce) of Truro, NS, Anet Benson (Herb Gaskill) of Grand Manan, and Marci Higgins (Jim) of St. Stephen. Four sisters; Charlotte Benson (Teddy) of Seal Cove, Jaqueline Benson of Florida, USA, Bonnie Gaskill (Eben) of Grand Manan, and Florena Daggett (Brock) of Grand Manan. One brother Roosevelt Benson (Grace) of Federicton. Nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister Vernice Wilcox and one brother Cpl. Rodney Benson.
Visiting will take place at Ells Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place at the North Head Wesleyan Church on Monday January 14, 2013 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Jeff Benson officiating. Interment will follow at the North Head Community Cemetery. Allison’s family has requested that donations may be made to the NB Lung Association, or the NB Heart & Stroke Association.
