JACQUES, Ervin Wayne passed away peacefully from a sudden onset illness on Jan 8, 2013 at the ICU unit of St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, SK surrounded by family. Ervin was born August 7, 1947 in Carragana SK. He lived his formulative years in Tompkins, SK until he graduated high school and started attending Moose Jaw Technical School, where he studied and received his certificate for radio and television repair. He opened his own radio and television repair shop in Shaunavon, SK. While in Shaunavon he started frequenting a local restaurant called the Shawnee where he met and started pestering and teasing a cute waitress until she agreed to start dating him. Her name was Patricia McDonald and she married him on July 26, 1968. They had a son in 1970, another in 1974 and a daughter in 1976. They moved to BC in 1974 where he became a carpenter. They moved around a lot following the housing construction market moving from Kamloops, Cloverdale, Langley, Quesnel, Aldergrove and eventually spending many years in Surrey before moving to Hazlet, SK in 1995. He and his wife were always surrounded by animals and kids. Sometimes he felt like he lived in a zoo with a menagerie of animals constantly around and his kids and their friends always there. He was usually able to ignore the commotion by immersing himself nose first in a good book where he would stay until the chaos moved on. He worked very hard his whole life and never really retired except to sleep a little later in the day after spending his whole life rising with the sun to take care of the animals then go off to work. He loved to teach his kids and anyone else his trade and was a patient and effective teacher. Ervin was a youthful soul and enjoyed spending time with children. Before he had grandchildren he spent time with nieces and nephews and would get down and their level and play with them and teach them any thing they wanted to learn from picking up a hammer to learning to use a pool cue. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. His first grandchild was Kayla followed by Taylor then Brett and Hunter. There was nothing he wouldn't do for them and he spent as much time with them as he could. He was active up until his final days always attending anything that his grandchildren were interested in, be it the kite festival, the picnic in the park or just going to the lake to go fishing. Ervin spent his final days playing cards and bingo at Prairieview Lodge in Swift Current, SK. Ervin was predeceased by his father William Leo and his mother Barbara, his brother Emil and his sister Ethel and also by his beloved wife Pat. He is survived by his children Kevin Jacques (Rose), Kim Jacques (Penny), Kathy Collier and his grandchildren Kayla, Taylor, Brett and Hunter, as well as his brothers, sisters and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members. His come and go memorial was held at the Eagles Hall in Swift Current, SK on Monday, January 14, 2012 from 3 to 6 pm. Honorary Pallbearers are everyone that played a part of Ervin's life. Thank you to the nurses and doctors at the St. Paul's Hospital ICU and thank you to Yvonne for being there when we needed you. In Ervin's memory, memorial donations can be made to The Kidney Foundation, The Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donors choice. Warren's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
