HARBOR: Donald Harbor of Val Marie, SK passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, at the age of 81 years. Don was born in Bracken, SK on June 23rd, 1931 to Dan and Piotta (Kress) Harbor. He attended school in Masefield, SK and later moved to Moose Jaw to work for the Dept. of Highways for many years. Don married Joyce (Clement) on November 5, 1951. After their marriage, Don began to farm with his father. This became his true passion in life. Don had a special eye for cattle, gaining him the prestigious award for the Saskatchewan Angus Association Commercial Producer of the Year in 2009. He had an incredible talent and love for music. He started playing the saxophone at the age of 12 and played in his father's band. After his dad's passing, he started his own band, the "Blue Notes" with his wife, two of his children and some fellow musicians. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce, three children; Corinne (Rick) Kane, Jim (Jodie) Harbor, Tana (Scott) Audette, five grandchildren; Wendy (Brad) Lockman, Brock Harbor (Robyn), Lane Harbor (Melissa), Ashley and Cory Audette, one great granddaughter, Arika Lockman, sister-in-law, Mildred Harbor, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father and mother, Dan and Piotta Harbor, brothers, John, Frank, William and sister, Chris, mother-in-law, Claudia Waddle, father-in-law, Homer Clement, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clayton and Myrtle Clement, nephew Doug Clement and niece, Brooke Harbor. Funeral service was held in Val Marie Tuesday, January 8, 2013 with Father Emereuwa officiating. Music by Kathy Grant, Blair Gehl and Angela Clement. The eulogy read by Betty Waldner. Honorary Pallbearers were Fred Waddington, Les Aadland, Derald Coupe, Mike Waldner, Daniel Harbor, Blaine Clement. Memorial donations can be made to the Swift Current SPCA.
