ANDERSON, Elizabeth (Betty), April 24, 1934 - Jan 11, 2013. To all of Betty's friends and neighbors; Mom passed away shortly before 11:00 pm, Friday, Jan 11, 2013. She took ill on Christmas Eve, and was flown to the Regina General by air ambulance on Boxing Day. She bravely battled through the critical events that occurred on Boxing Day, and after recovering from the anesthetic at Regina ICU she was very alert and communicative with all the family. She was not able to talk, due to being on a ventilator, but she could write short notes and communicate with us by squeezing a hand or other small gestures. She had many family visitors during her hospital stay in Swift Current and Regina including most of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. It was a beautiful gift for her and she fought hard to keep going so she could spend some time with everyone that could be there. She was surrounded by family when she finally slipped away. We're going to miss her so much, but we were so blessed to have had her in our lives for as long as we did. There were very few days in her 78 plus years she had on earth when she wasn't healthy, happy and active. She was fully independent and living in her own home till she took ill. She will live on in our memories for the caring, selfless life she lived. Betty is survived by Ivan, her husband of 55 years, her children, daughter Lois Ritchie and friend Dale (Regina), sons Bruce (Penny) Anderson (Lafleche, SK), Miles (Joanne) Anderson (Abbey, SK), and Denis Anderson and friend Bev (Swift Current). Grandchildren (14): Wyatt (Lyla), Wade (Cassandra), Matthew (Tracey), Vanessa, Shari (Bruce), Tyler (Ashley), Amanda, Nicholas (Cassie), Jeremy (Sara), Chelsea (Byron), Alyson (Josh), Brendon, Colby and Ryan; and her 13 Great Grandchildren; brothers Albert (Bert) Logie (Forres, Scotland) and Ronald (Angie) Logie (Portsmouth, England); sister-in-law May Logie; brother in law Ervin (Bernice) Anderson and family. Predeceased by her parents Peter and Jessie Logie, brothers Sandy & Pat, sister Flo, and sister-in-law Charlotte Logie. Betty was born in Forres, Scotland on April 24, 1934 to parents Peter and Jessie Logie and attended school in Forres. Mom had many fond memories of her childhood in Scotland and particularly her picnics near the Findhorn river and picking wild raspberries and brambles with family and friends. She was brought up protestant, and was a faithful member of the St Laurence Church in Forres, where she attended Sunday school and sang in the choir. She had many fond memories of babysitting her nieces and nephews (Elma, Gladys, Jeannette, Brian) in Forres. Mom caught a flight to Canada in 1957 for work near Abbey, and soon met and married Ivan and stayed busy raising their 4 children, and helping on the farm. They resided on the family farm East of Abbey (now occupied by Miles and Joanne) until 1968, when they purchased their house in town. They continued farming from town until the mid 1990's, and then retired and spent their winters in Swift Current, until 2001 when they bought their current home and sold the house in Abbey. Mom was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Abbey for many years. She enjoyed curling, bowling, tennis, knitting, babysitting and spoiling her many grandchildren. She remained an avid curling fan, spending many hours watching her favorite teams on TV and at the rinks around Swift Current. There was even a game on the TV in her room the night she left us, which was only fitting. The celebration of Betty's life will be held at the First United Church in Swift Current on Friday, Jan 18th at 2:00 pm. In her memory, memorial donations can be made out to the Abbey Cemetery committee. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
