Catherine Ripley

Ripley, Catherine Jewill, 60 years of age, of Amherst, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 after an eight-year battle with cancer. Cathy was the eldest daughter of Gordon and the late Helen Baird (Rhindress). Beside her father , she is survived by her husband, Frank; daughters, Royleen, Jennifer (Lance) LeBlanc; brother Steven (Diane) of Calgary; sisters Lindy Baird (David Ripley), Amherst and Nancy (Hugh) Calder of Halifax. She will be greatly missed by grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb, Kennedy and Gracie and special nieces Blaine (Josh) Carter and Shelly (Richard) Barker.
Cathy, other then working at N.S. Tel & Tel, spent her entire working life in Banks, starting with the Royal Bank in Amherst and finishing there. In addition, in Banks in Lahr, West Germany, Victoria, BC, Yorkton, SK, Fredericton, NB and Halifax.
She was very artistic and learned to paint from her mother, Helen and Aunt Maddie. Cathy loved to travel and did extensively in Europe; but most of all she enjoyed time at the cottage at Seagrove, being around her beautiful flower garden and spending time with her children, grandchildren, friends, and those times with her dear girl friends for a get together.
Special thanks to Dr. Rubin, Dr Mukherjee and entire staff on the 6th floor of the Moncton City Hospital, Dr. Halina Bienkowski, the Emergency Ward at Cumberland Hospital, Red Cross, the E.M.S. and lastly the V.O.N. for the stellar job they do.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St. Amherst, N.S. (667-8777). Funeral service will take place at Furlong-Jones Funeral Home on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
