Denyar, Charles William –Halifax, formerly of Salt Springs, New Glasgow, and Kentville, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013, age 95 years. Born in Greenfield Park, Quebec, son of Harry Peerless and Mary Ann Eliza (Widowson) Denyar. Charlie came to Halifax to work with his brother Jack at Denyar Dental Technicians before going overseas to war in 1941, where he served for four years with the Dental Corps. He is best remembered in Halifax as operating a successful insurance agency, representing Travelers. He enjoyed golf (Ashburn, Abercrombie and Eagle Crest clubs), curling (The Halifax Curling Club), cribbage, his camp at Lake Charlotte, his “gentleman’s” farm in Saltsprings. He was a 50 year plus member of Gyros (Halifax, New Glasgow and Kentville) and a 65 year Mason (St. John’s Lodge # 2 Halifax and Kentville Lodge #58). Charlie was predeceased by his much loved wife of 70 years, Marjorie May (Wournell). He is survived by his children Elaine Woodworth (David), Fall River; Judith Langley (John),Halifax; Bill Denyar (Dawn),Kentville; and Carol Denyar-MacDonald (John), Halifax; grandchildren, Lisa, Mark, Jamie and Dianne Woodworth, Adam and Andrew Langley, Chad and Robin Denyar; step-grandchildren Tara and Jamie Milsom; several nieces and nephews, great-grandchildren, and sadly missed by Sue Reid (John) Centreville. Charlie’s family want to thank the staff of V4 West Camp Hill Veteran’s Building for their devotion, giving Dad the best of care. His remains have been donated to Dalhousie Medical School. As per Charlie’s wishes, there will be no funeral. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
