Died while in Palliative Care at the Miller Centre in St. John’s following a courageous battle with cancer that began in late Fall 2011. The loving and tender care provided while in Palliative Care cannot be measured with words. Similarly the attention and special care provided by the Nurses and Doctors during her many months of Chemo Therapy treatments at the Dr. Bliss Murphy Cancer Clinic were so very kind and greatly appreciated. Left to mourn her death are: her husband of sixty years Jack; two daughters Carol and Debbie in Winnipeg; two sisters: Patsy Plumb in California, Linda McLeod –Ron, Lethbridge Alberta; four brothers: Graham Decker-Donna, Seal Cove, Doug Decker-Ruby, Gander, Rex Decker-Eunice, Edmonton Alberta, John Decker-Jean, St. John’s, as well as twenty nieces and nephews. Also; daughter in-law Macy and two precious grandsons Cedric and Keenan in Scarborough Ontario and her much loved Aunt Stella Mills in St. John, Betty was predeceased by her parents Ralph and Ida Decker, her son Rick, sister Stella and brother Bruce. She will be missed not only by family but also her many treasured friends in various locations in Newfoundland and Labrador, on the mainland as well as in Portugal and the U.K. Cremation is in the care of Carnell’s Funeral Home. No flowers please, however, if desired donations may be made to the charity of your choice. There will not be a formal visitation arranged, but family and friends are of course always welcome at Betty and Jack’s home, 80 Paddy Dobbin Drive in St. John’s.
