McNEILLY, SANDRA LOUISE - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Louise (Braid) McNeilly on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Sandra was 67. Born in Edinburgh Scotland, she was the daughter of the late David and Sylvia (Fenwick) Braid. Sandra was a member of St. Paul’s United Church, the University Women’s Society, African Violet Club and the Celiac Association. She received her Bachelors of Arts at Mount Allison her BED at STU her Master’s in Education at UNB. She was the owner of Roots Fredericton from 1992 to 2005. In her later years she was an activist for senior’s rights in NB. After retirement she went to China to teach English at the LisHui University from 2005 to 2011. An avid traveler, Sandra had been on all seven continents including Antarctica. Sandra is survived by her two children; Katharine Hartnett (DJ) of Fredericton and Gordon McNeilly (Eireann) of Charlottetown, three grandchildren, Riley and Amelia Hartnett and Kiera Rigby, one brother David Braid as well as several nieces and nephews. Other than her parents Sandra was predeceased by her husband Russell Andrew McNeilly in 2005.
The family will receive condolences from Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Friday, January 25th from 7 to 9 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 26th from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel at 11:30 AM with Rev. H.G. MacKenzie officiating.
