It is with great sadness that the family of Jennie Caroline Lang announces her passing on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the age of 79. Jennie is survived by Jim, her loving husband of more than 54 years; son Mark (Susan) of Regina, SK and their children Christie, Michelle and Matthew; son Tim (Tina) of Abbotsford, BC and their children Melissa, Cassidy and Tayler; and daughter Brenda of Saskatoon, SK and her children Jennifer and Allison. She also leaves behind her sister Karoline (Norman) Nault of Winnipeg, MB; brother Stan (Joanna) Len of Saskatoon, SK; sisters in law Agnes Len of Regina, SK, Inge Len of Ladysmith, BC, Gladys Andrews, Marjorie Arndt and Jean Arndt all of Saskatoon, SK; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Jennie was predeceased by her parents Stanley and Louise Len; siblings Walter Len, Eddie Len, Anne McMillan, John Len, Eileen Maccan and Stena Jaworski; parents in law Henry and Karolina Lang; sister in law Kathleen Lang; brothers in law Hugh McMillan, Ken Arndt and Leonard Arndt. Jennie was born January 15, 1934 on the family farm in Fone Hill, SK. She attended Fone Hill School and later Yorkton Collegiate. After high school Jennie attended Tuxedo Normal School in Winnipeg, MB and taught in numerous one room schools in Manitoba and two elementary schools in Regina. Jennie and Jim were married August 16, 1958 and for the rest of her life Jennie devoted herself to her husband, children and grandchildren. As Jim’s life partner, Jennie supported him throughout his career with the Royal Bank which involved moves to Moose Jaw, Montreal, Esterhazy, Regina and back to Moose Jaw where Jim retired in 1987. In 1996 Jim and Jennie moved to Swift Current and their final move was to Saskatoon in 2008. Jennie was always active in every community she lived in and a tireless volunteer for numerous organizations including her church, Kinettes, Lionnesses and the Shrine Auxiliary, to name a few, where she made many lifelong friends. Jennie was an avid sports fan and especially loved her Toronto Maple Leafs and Saskatchewan Roughriders. She will always be known for her smile which lit up every room, her laughter, her love of reading, dancing, music, cards and her devotion to her family and friends. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to all the wonderful people who cared for Jennie during her time at Oliver Lodge. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Oliver Lodge, 1405 Faulkner Crescent, Saskatoon, SK. S7L 3R5. A Service Celebrating Jennie’s Life will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK, with Pastors Randy Meissner and Roger Nostbakken officiating.
