Karola Hudoffsky

HUDOFFSKY (SCHROETER), KAROLA E. – Truro/Shubenacadie, NS - Karola Elisabeth Hudoffsky (Schroeter), 91, formerly of Middle Musquodoboit and Shubenacadie, NS, passed away in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro, on January 29, 2013. Born March 4, 1921 in Hamburg, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Anton and Charlotte Otzipka. Initially her life journey took her to Elbing, East Prussia, where she married Eckart O. Schroeter, but became widowed in April 1945. She remarried in 1949 and emigrated with her husband, Ulrich Hudoffsky, to Nova Scotia (arriving at Pier 21) in 1952. The next thirty years were spent on a farm in Middle Musquodoboit, followed by retirement in Shubenacadie. She loved to cook and garden, with emphasis on healthy living. Rarely one to complain, she is remembered by many for her compassion and caring for others. Besides her parents and first husband, she was predeceased by her second husband, Ulrich Hudoffsky; son-in-law, Paul Adams. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Liselotte Fabian, Hamburg; sister-in-law Gisela v.Seherr-Thoss, Bonn. She was a loving mother of Eckart (Donna) Schroeter, Rothesay, N.B.; and daughter, Helika Adams, Shubenacadie; was a special Omi of Signy (Jeff) Klein, Texas; Markus (Tara) Schroeter, Moncton; Stefan Schroeter (fiancée Tanis Kirk), Toronto; Jonathan Adams (Spain), Christoffer Adams, Shubenacadie, Kristen Adams, New Zealand; adored Omi of great-grandchildren, Dexter and Gabi Klein; Liam and Finley Schroeter; special mother of foster children, Barry, Gary and Bryan Speck; Joan and John Marks. She will be missed by many friends, especially by Connie Taylor.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on March 23, 2013 in Faith Community Church, Milford. The family will receive friends at a reception after the service in the church hall.
