Retired Lieutenant — St John’s Regional Fire Department. Passed peacefully away on January 29, 2013, at the Health Sciences Centre in the presence of family members. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Cecilia Mitchell, sisters Madeline, Ida Wareham (Eric) and Pearl Bowering (Lester), brother Fred, seven brothers-in-law, and five sisters-in-law. Leaving to mourn, his wife of 67 years, Edna; four children: Dave (Patricia), Sandra, Marilyn (Chesley) and Clare (Sheila); seven grandchildren: Tony (Terri), David (Kelly), Robert (Elizabeth), Christopher (Joanne) Peggy Evans (Chad), Perry, and Colby (Jill); seven great-grandchildren: Wesley, Lily, Mya, Samuel, Chloe, Joshua and Reid; four step-great-grandchildren: Tyler, Cody, Shawn and Colson; brother-in-law Earl George (Alice); as well as a large circle of nephews, nieces and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl on Thursday and Friday, January 31st and February 1st, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to be held at Barrett’s Chapel on Saturday, February 2nd at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road.
