We, the family, announce the passing of Moe White on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013 at home with his family at his side.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Samuel & Drucilla (Cole) White. Moe was employed with Devco as a coal miner for 33 years, he was member of the Salvation Army, district tellers member of the U .M.W.A., involved with the union for many years. Moe was an avid bowler with the colliery league for many years, also after retirement bowled with the pensioners league. Moe was a true Toronto Maples Leafs fan also a New York Yankee fan. Moe loved to go camping at the Mira Provincial Park, traveling to Bangor for his camping trips and getting to meet people on the way.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley (Mitchell); daughter, Doreen (Blair) Cole, Brenda White, Muriel Lockman, who was just like a daughter. Sons, Gordon (Bimbo), Blair (Whitey), all who live in Glace Bay. Sisters, Minnie Parson, Audrey Dunlap, both of Glace Bay, Shirley (Bob), Jessie (Austin), Isabel Lucas, all of Ont. Brothers, Art, Bob, Donnie (Marg), Alex (Bev), all of Glace Bay and Dave (Brenda), Ont. Grandchildren, Kimberly, Bradley, Cory, Helene; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Candace, Neil.
Predeceased by parents; sister, Florence; brothers, Cyril, Eugene and Roddie.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home Chapel with Lt. Joshua Downer officiating. Burial taking place at a later date.
Donation may be made to the palliative care society.
