HIGGINS, FRANCES EARNESTINE (nee HALLETT) - December 1921- February 2013 - The family sadly marks the passing of beloved Fran, quietly in her sleep during the early hours of February 10, 2013. Born in Beverly, Alberta, Fran was raised in St Andrews, N.B. She was a mother, homemaker and professional seamstress in Verdun, QC, a longtime staff member of the Rosemere High School Library and finally, a retiree back in Edmonton. Fran, the widow of James W. Armstrong and Thomas Higgins (both of Montreal), was predeceased by older sister, Helen Thyer (Bill) and her daughter, Ruth Hagar (nee Armstrong) (Chuck). Fran is survived by her sister, Fae Watkins of St Stephen, NB, her sons, Art (Janice) and Bob; her grandchildren Charles and Jim (Valerie) Hagar, Angela (Dan) and Cindy (John) Armstrong, and her great-grandchildren Bobbie Jean Hagar, Jacqueline and Alexandra Forest and Madeleine Armstrong-Wilson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Edmonton. For details contact the family. Interment will be in the Armstrong family plot in Rideau Memorial Gardens, Montreal in late spring. If friends and relatives so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta.
