GRANT, HELEN A. - 1918-2013 - The death of Helen A. Grant, age 94, occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Friday, February 15, 2013 following a brief illness. Born in Pugwash, NS, on August 31, 1918, she was the older daughter of Albert and Gertrude (Trenholm) Murray. She is survived by a sister, Gracie Campbell of Toronto; three daughters, Evelyn (Bernard) Fields of Murray Corner, Wanda (Gary) Williams of Holmesville, NB, and Dianne of Toronto; four sons, Gary of Toronto, Albert (Shirley) of Windsor, NS, John (Nellie) of Cape Spear, Thomas (Susan) of Cape Tormentine and Robert at home in Cape Spear; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her husband James (1972), daughter Gertrude Georgina (1948) and four grandchildren, Ryan Grant, Marty Fields, and James and Heather Stright.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel, 3 West Main St, Port Elgin (538-2241) on Monday, February 18, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from the funeral home at 2 pm, with Bill Drysdale DLM officiating. A reception will follow. Interment in Bayfield Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donation to the Bayfield Cemetery or Sackville Memorial Hospital foundation would be appreciated.
