It is with great sadness that we announce that John passed away at Victoria, B.C. on February 14, 2013 after a short illness. John was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland on January 2, 1937. He was predeceased by his first wife Kathryn and his brothers, Thomas and Augustine. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Jancowski) Walsh; his children: Jim, Joanne, Owen (Tera), Andrea and John; grandchildren: Devin, Alma and Ari; his brother Vincent (Shirley) and sister Mary Power (John). John was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed terribly by his relatives, friends and colleagues. John’s distinguished career as a Professor of Electrical Engineering spanned more than 40 years. He was a leading expert in electromagnetics and ground wave radar systems. A person born with exceptional intelligence, John devoted his life to learning and to passing his knowledge to his successors. In all his involvements, John exhibited integrity and was well respected by his colleagues.
