WEPPLER, Margaret June passed away on Friday, February 15, 2013, at the Herbert Nursing Home. She was born on June 22, 1921, in Morse SK, to John and Nancy Glover and was the eldest of eight children. She was raised on the family farm north of Glen Kerr and attended Lady Bank School. June completed her grades 9, 10 and 11 by correspondence. During this time she worked for her uncle, Don MacIsaac, who operated the General Store in Glen Kerr. Over the next 5 years, June worked as a housekeeper for Art and Jessie Bestrop during the farming months and spent the winter months working on the family farm. It was during this time that June decided to become a teacher and attended Normal School in Moose Jaw in 1943-1944. She taught at Thatch Creek School in Melfort in 1944-1945, and Rolling Plains School in 1945-1946. While working for the Bestrop family, June began dating Donald Weppler. They were married on October 23, 1946, in the Log Valley Church north of Glen Kerr. Together they began their farming life in the Rolling Plains District and together they worked hard for the next 61 years. They raised three sons (Jack, Rod and Bill) and June was so proud of their achievements. June was a life-long member of the Morse Royal Purple and a long-time member of the Morse UCW. June's true vocation was realized when she married the love of her life. She was happiest being a wife, a mother and a homemaker. She was always busy cooking, baking, doing the chores and raising her three sons. She was also an active volunteer in the Morse community. June loved to play cards and played Bridge for many years with her ladies group. She also spent countless hours with her wool and crochet hook, turning out beautiful doilies to be given as gifts for weddings, showers and birthdays. She loved the farm life and all the changing seasons. Spring would bring robins, calves and kittens. Summer brought fishing trips, vacations in the motor-home, time spent at the lake and more card games with their friends. Fall was harvest time, making meals for the field and canning and preserving fresh fruit and relish. Winter brought long months of relaxing, playing cards with family and friends and making her fudge as Christmas drew near. Best of all, winter brought the “Snow Bird” trip south to Mesa for the warmer weather. This time was spent socializing with other Morse Snow Birds, going to flea markets, casinos and sight-seeing. They always travelled with their life-long friends and together June and Don enjoyed many happy adventures. June loved her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to baby-sit and play with them. She loved a good tea party! June was always active in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and each one has their own precious memories of Grandma June. June never took her family for granted. Her brothers and sisters were all so dear to her and they always stayed in touch. She loved the Glover get-togethers and their poker games. The fun, the laughter, her brother Bob's stories, the good food and the love for one another kept everyone coming together, year after year. June and Don renewed their wedding vows at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, while on a bus tour to Branson in 2003. Now June could tell everyone that she had been married twice! The newly re-married couple of 57 years enjoyed that road trip so much! June was predeceased by her parents, John and Nancy Glover; three bothers, Ted, Jack and Roger Glover; two sisters, Mary Pavelich and Norma Oudo; and an infant granddaughter, Morgan Weppler. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Don; sons, Jack (Laura) of Morse, Rod (Mildred) of Morse and Bill (Janice) of Regina; six grandchildren, Chad (Stacey) Weppler of Swift Current, Scott (Jessie) Weppler of Saskatoon, Lindsay (Tyrone) Johnson of Medicine Hat, Krista Weppler of Regina, Brent Weppler of Regina and Marnie (Tyler) Gorrill of White City; seven great grandchildren, Zaydin Weppler, Paige Dods, Emma Weppler, Ellie Weppler, Owen, Morgan and Luke Johnson; sister, Joan Buckley of Brandon Manitoba; brother, Bob (Shirley) of Beaver Flat; sisters-in-law, Sandra Glover of Morse, Linda Glover of Regina and Erna Glover of Nanaimo, BC; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at 2:00 pm from the Morse United Church, Morse, SK with Lay Pastor Barbara Wiebe officiating. The accordionist for the service was Chuck Weppler with “Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Garden” sung by the congregation. The life history and tributes were shared by Jack and Laura Weppler and by Bill Weppler. The ushers in the church were Kelly Glover and Jamie Baxter. Honorary pallbearers were “All those who shared In June’s life”.
