It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father George Alexander Flynn at Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary, Alta., on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013.
Born in Sydney, N.S., he was the son of the late Raymond and Linda (Rahal) Flynn.
A proud Whitney Pier boy, George enjoyed a long and successful career in sales and was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, gardening and watching the Toronto Maple Leafs defeat the Montreal Canadiens. George shared his passion for classic cars with his children and grandchildren who loved talking and tinkering with their ‘Jidi.’
He is survived by his daughters, Natalie (Andrew) Flynn-Doherty, Carla, Ashley and Gina; beloved grandchildren, Paige, Kieran, Chase, Kaelyn; and his brothers, Bill and Brian (Arlene) and sisters, Judy (Allen) Sheppard and Deborah; and many nieces and nephews including, Jason (Krista) and Jerrett.
He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond in 1979 and Linda Flynn in 2012, brother, Terrance in 1991 and grandson, Tyler in 2012.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013, at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at Holy Redeemer, Whitney Pier, with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Reception to follow. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations are to be made to the Canadian Lung Association.
