It’s with great sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, uncle, & brother on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Jerome, the son of Dennis & Elizabeth (Boone) Kelly, was born in Glace Bay, where he resided and was a lifetime member of St. John's/St. Leo's parishes. Jerome lived and worked in Toronto in his earlier years and retained his allegiance to the Maple Leafs & the Blue Jays. Later, he worked with Devco for 34 years at # 20 & 26 collieries as a miner and retired from there as a security officer.
Jerome was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed the simple things in life, who was more than willing to give, and who asked for nothing in return.
Surviving are his wife, Marie (O’Connell); daughters, Arlene (Phil) Kelly-Wiggins and Judy (Paul) Kelley; son, Jerome (Shauna) Kelly; special nephew, Brent (Susan) O’Connell; sisters, Cleophas (Peter) Egan, Anne Marie (Gordon) Boudreau and Arlene Kelly; brothers, Edward “Ned” (Anna), Dennis (Marie), Jude (Elaine), Bernie (Dot), John (Dorothy) and William (Mary); grandchildren, Erin and Emma Wiggins, Maria Kelley and Brooke, Breagh and Bryden Kelly; special grandniece, Kenza O’Connell.
Jerome was predeceased by his sisters, Mary (Will) MacAulay, Pearl (Dan) and Elizabeth and Caroline in infancy.
In honouring Jerome’s request, there will be no visitation with a memorial mass held at a later date.
