Roberst (Bob) Caldwell
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Caldwell age 93 formerly of Amherst on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Mira Long Term Care Centre in Truro, NS.
Robert (Bob) Caldwell was born in Amherst, the youngest of three sons born to the late William Thomas and Ethel Birch Caldwell. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers John and Frank, wife Patricia and daughter Patsy.
Bob is survived by two daughters Anne (Paul) Armstrong of Toronto and Kathy (Dan) Dumaresq of Sherwood Park Alberta, grandchildren Heather (Mark) Doherty of Ajax Ontario and Bob (Heather) Armstrong of Barrie Ontario, and four great-grandchildren.
Bob was always involved in his community- he was a member of the Amherst school board, warden of Christ Church Amherst, member of the town council, Amherst curling club and the Rotary Club. After moving to Truro he joined the Truro Golden K. Wherever Bob lived he enjoyed getting involved in community activities.
Bob worked at the Canada Car/Enamel and Heating in Amherst for many years. He left Amherst to work in Sydney. This was followed by a move to Truro where he worked at Scot Truck then Dominion Chair Co. and finally retirement in Wentworth.
Bob enjoyed his work and his family. In his spare time he enjoyed his gardens, crafts, and home improvement projects. Upon retirement he and Pat spent winters in Florida and travelled across Canada several times.
Thank you to Dr. Cook and to the staff on B wing of the Mira Long Term Care Centre for the excellent care and support given to Bob and his family.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst (667-9906)
Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. immediately followed by the funeral service all at Christ Church, Amherst with The Rev. Charlotte Ross officiating. Reception to follow. Interment will take place in the Christ Church Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
