Joy Jones

JONES, JOY EMMALINE (RODGERSON) - Joy Emmaline (Rodgerson) Jones, daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother, went peacefully home to be with her Lord on Friday March 1, 2013. She was born on Long Island, New Brunswick in May of 1923, one of eight children, daughter of the late Edith (Cunningham) and the late Ernest Rodgerson. Joy married the love of her life Freddie Jones in 1948, set up house in Drury Cove, and was blessed with two daughters, Beverly and Krista. Joy was a wonderful homemaker who could bake anything, cook up a storm, knit you a sweater, and cut your hair all at the same time. As hairdresser extraordinaire she made the ladies beautiful for many years and after Freddie’s barber died he allowed her to cut his hair as well. Many will remember the great Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving dinners, and the New Years parties that went to the wee hours. She usually sewed herself a fancy outfit for New Years and was the bell of the ball. Joy was an active member of Brookville United Church and the Brookville United Church UCW and was always there to pitch in at the rummage sales and church suppers. It broke her heart when her beloved little church closed its doors. Her cooking and knitting skills benefited Romero House for many years. As a member of the Glenview Bowling league she knocked down the pins for over 30 years and made many lifelong friendships. Joy loved to spend time at her trailer on the Kingston Peninsula surrounded by her family, the water, beautiful sunsets, and of course, the fresh veggies from across the road that she was constantly reminding us to eat. She is survived by her loving daughters Beverly Good and Krista Sequeira, grandchildren Carrie Thietke (Mark), Kris Good (Michelle), Allyson Giannikouris (Michael), Aja Sequeira, and Kirin Sequeira, great granddaughter Tayler Lesmeister, her youngest sister Perrine Titus, sister in law Adelaide Rodgerson, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and her dear friends Kay and Gladys. Also missing her will be her furry friends Willow, Fred, Gauge, Koko, Teddy, Token, and Shiloh. Meeting her in heaven were Freddie, Nanny (her mother), her sisters and brothers Allen, Arnold, Buddy, Dougie, Dot and Gertie, and many friends. Thank you to the Gagetown Special Care Home staff for their wonderful care of mom over the last year and a half.
