Matheson, Robert “Bob” John; It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Robert John Matheson, which occurred at Vimy Court in Bible Hill on Thursday, March 7, 2013. A proud Cape Bretoner “Bob” was born in 1923 at Alba, Inverness County, a son of the late Kenneth A. and Jessie (MacLeod) Matheson. Bob worked for the CNR for 35 years retiring in 1978. He was a kind, hard working man and will be remembered for his wonderful smile. Bob is survived by his daughter, Janice (Rex) Barnhill, Truro; sister, Doris (Edmund) MacLean, Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren, Robbie (Trina) Matheson, Charlottetown; Tim (Jackie), Chris (Crystal) Matheson, Winnipeg; Kyle (Michelle) Barnhill, Middle Sackville; Beth (Michael) MacLellan, Halifax; 8 great grandchildren. Besides his parents Bob was predeceased by his wife the former Phyllis Prunty; sons, Robert (Bobbie) and David; brothers, Lloyd, Lawrence, Kenneth, Russell, William; sister, Annabelle. Janice, Rex and family would like to thank the staff at Debert and Vimy Court for the loving care they gave to Dad for the last 5 years. No visitation by family request. Funeral service will be held 2pm Monday, March 11, in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, Pastor Jacqueline Ross officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment at a later date in the Watson Cemetery Truro. Family flowers only. Donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Colchester East Hants Health Centre Foundation or a charity of your choice.
