Marion Isabelle (Fry Hacala) MacDonald

Born In: Florence
Born: February 15th, 1928

Passed on: March 9th, 2013

“If there is another world, she lives in bliss; If there is none, she made the best of this.”
Marion was born in Florence, N.S., to the late Ethel and William Fry. She was one of 12 children.
She loved to read and was a big fan of Corrie Street. Many people will remember her as the crossing school guard on Upper Prince Street. Marion loved the children and she would always take the time to button coats, put on hats and tie shoelaces.
Marion is survived by her children, Marguerite Hacala (Roger Boadway), June Hacala-Piercey, David (Melgie) Hacala, Deborah (Gus) Hayes, Garry Hacala and Donald MacDonald; grandchildren, Kerri-Lynn, Ronda, Anthony, Liberty, Sara and great-grandchildren, Talor, Samantha and Austin. She also leaves behind one brother, Reggie Fry; sister-in-law, Mary Fry and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Marion was predeceased by loving husband, Ivan Arkley MacDonald and daughter, Valarie Spooner.
Many thanks to the family doctor Susan McLeod, the Palliative Care unit, VON and Home Care teams who helped the family during this difficult period, and who also helped take care of Marion treating her with dignity and respect.
Cremation has taken place. Interment date will be announced in April, and will take place in Trinity Anglican Cemetery on Tobin Road, Sydney Mines.
Donations in Marion’s memory can be made to the Palliative Care Unit or VON.
