
Melvin Douglas Piercey

Passed peacefully away at the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, age 88 years old. Born in St. John’s on February 20, 1925, Melvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Predeceased by his wife Olive (Read) and infant children David George and Beverley Ann, his parents Charles and Susanna and sister Rhoda Maude (Arthur) Piercey of Winterton. Leaving to mourn with loving memories are sons: David (Susan) in Merrickville, ON, Craig (Sheila) in Long Pond; five grandchildren: Christopher (Tanya) in Banff, Stephen (Sherri) in Ottawa, Kevin in Canmore, Tiffany in Calgary and Brittany in St. John’s; three cherished great-grandchildren: Owen, Eva and Annabelle and a special niece Fay (Willis) Howell in Foxtrap and other nieces and nephews. Also leaving to mourn numerous friends and acquaintances in the communities where he lived and did volunteer work and his Masonic brethren. At this time the family would like to express their highest thanks and appreciation to Dr. Butler and the staff of the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion where Melvin lived over this past number of months. A memorial service will be held at a later date; announcement to follow. His inurnment with his wife Olive will be held in North Sydney.
