DR. DAVID STANLEY RICHARDSON died peacefully surrounded by his family Thursday, March 14th after a fierce battle with pancreatic cancer. ¨Dr. Dave¨, as he was known in the dental community, was born and raised in Wallaceburg, Ontario. He started his professional career at the University of Windsor followed by the University of Toronto, Dental program. Years later he studied in Rochester New York at the Eastman Dental Centre at which he obtained his Masters in Pediatric Dentistry. David taught Dentistry in San Antonio, Texas, Spain, and Halifax before eventually settling on Prince Edward Island, where Hunter River quickly became his true home. David had previously come to Charlottetown to work when he finished Dental College and always said he would end up back in PEI. David devoted time in the fall to going to Kasabonika in Northern Ontario to do dental work in the native community. He continued this work for close to forty years and became a celebrated member of the commu nity, cultivating many friendships along the way. David had a passion for cycling. He took great pleasure in exploring his surroundings on two wheels. The greatest passions in David´s life are his daughters, Darrah and Brianna, and his partner, Rosemary - his three girls. David leaves two sisters, Jayne (Doug) and Patty (Merv) and four nieces and nephews. His young patients will fondly remember him for his polished stones, which were never in short supply. A wake for David will be held at Central Queens United Church in Hunter River on Sunday, March 17th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in David´s memory to Pancreatic Cancer Canada to support research into early detection."
