Peter Graham Johnstone

JOHNSTONE, Peter Graham – 78, Riverview, New Brunswick, formerly of Truro, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Moncton Hospital. Born November 12, 1934, in Truro, he was the son of the late James L. and Jean (Cox) Johnstone. Peter is survived by his wife, Pat (Crowley) Johnstone, Riverview, New Brunswick; son, David Johnstone, Truro; daughters, Nancy Johnstone, Shortts Lake; Susan Johnstone, Truro; grandchildren, Lee James Atkinson and Ellen Atkinson; extended family, JoAnn LeBlanc, Moncton, and Jill LeBlanc Farquharson (Robert) and granddaughters, Kate and Laura Farquharson, Dieppe, New Brunswick; sister, Jamesie Adams, Brookfield; lifelong friend, George J.C. Lewis. Peter was active in his community and was a past member of Colchester County Council and served on Colchester School Board. He was an honourary member of Truro Club and a former member of Truro Curling Club, Truro Golf Club and Londonderry Masonic Lodge. In later years, Peter and Pat moved to Riverview, New Brunswick. Peter had a life-long love of trains and all connected with them and he enjoyed countless hours developing his hobby with models. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and caring friend who will be missed greatly. Thanks are extended to Kurt Cobb, Cobb’s Funeral Home, for his help at this difficult time. Honouring Peter’s wishes, a reception for family and friends will be held 4-6 p.m., Thursday, March 28, 2013, in Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private family interment will be held in Folly Mountain Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Peter’s memory to Friends of the Moncton Hospital or Heart and Stroke Foundation are welcomed.
