Eileen Furlong

FURLONG, EILEEN ISABELLA - 1931 - 2013 - Eileen Furlong of Riverview, passed away at the age of 82 on March 26, 2013, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Eileen loved music and played the spoons for her friends and family. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was well known for cooking the best fried clams when she owned and operated the “Fundy Take Out and Restaurant” in Alma. Eileen loved spending summers at the farm on Midway Rd. for many years with her husband Pat. Born in Moncton, NB on February 9, 1931, Eileen was a daughter of the late Hartford and Sadie Mullin (Melvin). She is survived by sons, Thomas (Barb) Furlong and Travis (Sheila) Furlong; daughter Judith (Colin) Furlong; twin sister, Kathleen (Henry) Leblanc and sister Mayme Hannington; 13 grandchildren, Wendy Bulmer, Wayde Garner, Wesley Garner, Teena Furlong-Leger, Trevor Furlong, Shanyn Horsman, Ryan Furlong, Vaughan Gould/Furlong, twins Zoe Furlong and Stephanie Furlong, Jessica Gauvin, Heather Dewolf and Dana Lyman; 13 great grandchildren, Patricia Bulmer, Eilish Bulmer, James Garner, Kathryn Garner, Kyle Garner, Kaden Garner, Keith Garner, Kayla Furlong, Cash Horsman, Pressley Horsman, Emmutt Rossitor, Naomi Rossitor and Konnor Lyman; a great great grandson, Mateo Luca Niles; and many nieces and nephews, who will all miss her dearly. In addition to her parents, Eileen was predeceased by her husband Patrick Joseph Furlong, as well as sisters, Vivian, Altha, Ida, and brothers, Cecile, Lloyd, Ronald, John and Wilfred.
Eileen is resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home, where visitation will be held today, Wednesday, March 27th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with the funeral service taking place on Thursday at 12 p.m., Pastor Chett MacPhail officiating. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens, followed by a reception in the Garden View Room. The family wishes to acknowledge all of those who visited with Eileen in hospital and express gratitude for their prayers and support. The family would also like to thank the staff of The Moncton Hospital 6600 and Dr. Donald for the excellent care provided during Eileen’s illness. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Cherry Field Baptist Church or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
