McLEOD - Mrs. Viva McLeod, age 84, of Mankota, Sask. passed away peacefully at the Prairie View Heath Center in Mankota. Predeceased by her husband Archie, infant son Robert Allen, parents Robert and Mary Wells, two brothers, Burt and Lloyd; three sisters Ina Biffert, Florence Thompson and Etta Siebert, Vi is survived by children: Ron (Debbie), Debbie (Ernie) Bokor and Dan (Debbie), one sister Willa Gavelin, two brothers George and Glenn, 9 grandchildren: Angie (Scott) Gibson, Chad McLeod (Desiree Ginetz), Jamie (Jarrett) Lehr, Jodi (Toby) Nelson, Lori (Lonnie) Howe, Becky Bokor, Peggy Bokor (Lee Eklund), Kim (Patrick) Desrosiers, James McLeod (Melanie Horvath); 11 great-grandchildren: Sara and Dane Gibson, McKenna and Nash Lehr, Jaycie and Josh Howe, Emma and Abby Nelson, Tyson and Taylor Desrosiers, Jackson Corbin; 7 step-grandchildren: Sandra and Jason Bartram - Keegan & Ethan, Leslie and Schon Unger - Emily & Cole, Stacy Olsen, Angela Olsen (Dave Elliott), Thomas Olsen, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Vi was born August 31st, 1928 on the family farm south west of Mankota, where she also attended Bannock School. They sold the family farm in 1945 and moved to Pugwash, Nova Scotia for one year. She then moved to McCord in 1946 and worked at the Great West Hotel for Joe and Tina Kohl. Vi and Archie were married in 1947 and took up residence in McCord. Throughout the early years of their marriage, Vi Helped Archie out at the Co-op and worked at the Post Office where she became the Post Mistress in 1980 and retired in 1997. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, quilting, sewing and gardening. Vi was a member of the United Church, Legion and the Housing Authority; she gave many hour of her time volunteering in her community. Many evenings were spent playing cards with her family and friends. The Funeral Service was held Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Mankota Agricultural Hall with the Reverend Mathias Ross officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons: Scott Gibson, Chad McLeod, James McLeod, Thomas Olsen, Lonnie Howe, and Lee Eklund. Eulogy was given by Vicki Greffard. Hymns led by the Mankota Community Choir, accompanied by the organist, Lillian Klein. Interment followed in the Mankota Cemetery.
