It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Victor Joseph LeMoine, 81, of Scotchtown on April 2, 2013 at home.
Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late Archie and Victoria (Deruelle) LeMoine. Victor was a member of the former St. Michael's parish, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard. He was a coal miner for 27 years working in Nos. 12,16,18 and 26. He was a long time member of the Scotchtown Volunteer Fire Dept., New Waterford Lions Club, New Waterford Fish and Game Association and the Cape Breton Beagle Club. Victor enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as camping in Lake Ainslie and Gabarus.
Surviving are his wife, Thresa (Mackie); daughters, Elaine (Ernie) Digero, Carolyn (Leonard) Nugent, both of Scotchtown, Geraldine Whitehouse (Allan), Marlene LeMoine, both of New Waterford; sons, Victor (Marion) LeMoine, Scotchtown, John (Carol) LeMoine, River Ryan; grandchildren, Chris, Chad, Nicole, Troy, Tracy, Corrine, Tanya, Jennifer, Kelly, Jean, Bernie, Rose, Mandy, Madeline, and Papa's sweetheart, Brittany; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, James, Ryan, Tyler, Brett, Brea, Parker, Tyson, Cooper, Bradley, Hunter, Riley, John Kai, Shayla, Liana Kate; two great-great-grandchildren, Zoey and Nathan; special son-in-law, Bernie Whitehouse, New Waterford; daughter-in-law, Beverly Fortune, Dartmouth; son-in-law, Jackie Ruelland, Loch Lomond. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Victor was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Besides his parents, Victor was predeceased by his son, Leo; brothers Archie, Paul and Freddie; sisters Victoria, Melvina, Elaine, Germaine and Angel.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral service will be held Monday, April 8 at 11 a.m., in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Leo Penny officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, River Ryan.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
