Mary Donovan

Born In: Czechoslovakia

Passed on: April 5th, 2013

Mary E. Donovan, 82, of Lower Sackville, passed away April 5, 2013.
Born in Czechoslovakia, at the age of five Mary and her family immigrated to Canada, settling in the coal mining town of New Waterford, where she lived for 70 years before relocating to Lower Sackville. She was the daughter of the late Martin and Zuzanna Mocilan and loving wife of the late George Donovan.
Mary was predeceased by her infant daughter Mary Georgina and brother Joseph.
Mary had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of St. Michael’s Church in River Ryan and later Saint John Vianney in Sackville. Her daily prayers included her own intentions, as well those of others. She was a dedicated employee of the Scotia Bank in Sydney and New Waterford for over 30 years.
Mary enjoyed skating, baking and we all benefited from her incredible sense of humour. She treasured many things in life, but her greatest joy were her grandchildren, Matthew, Allison, Emily and Blair.
She is survived by two children, Deborah (Blair) MacDonald, New Waterford; and son, George (Bernadette) Donovan in Lower Sackville. She will be missed dearly by all blessed to have known her.
There will be no visitation. Mass will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Saint John Vianney RC Church in Lower Sackville. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in River Ryan, C.B., Wednesday, April 10 at 3 p.m.
