Harold Matthew Wood - 86, formerly of Glenmont, Kings County, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Saturday, April 6, 2013 in Shannex - Orchard Court, Kentville. Born in Glenmont, where he lived most of his life, he was a son of the late David and Annie (Oakden) Wood. He had been employed as an operator with the Department of Transportation and was the Kings County Game Warden for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He had a love for animals and especially enjoyed his daughter’s Shelties. He also loved spending time with his granddaughters and great grandsons. Harold enjoyed spending time in his garage and helping others with many types of repairs. He is survived by his wife, the former Shirley Hazel; a daughter, Wanda (Rick) Chambers, Halifax; two sons, Randy (Susan) and Harlon (Cheryl), both of Centreville; three granddaughters, Threna (Hans) Burghardt, Laura and Kelsey Wood; two great grandsons, Kohl and Broc Burghardt; two sisters, Mildred Brown, Pembroke, Ontario; Myrna Melvin, Kentville; two brothers, Shirley (Marlene), Berwick; Foster (Valetta), Kentville; a sister-in-law, Verna Wood, Halifax; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant brother, Vilroy; a brother, William; a brother-in-law, Gordon Brown. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, Reverend Doctor Dan Gibson officiating. Burial took place in the Canard Burial Ground, Kings County. Family flowers only, by request.
