DUPONT- Fred It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Fred Dupont in Vernon BC on February 11, 2013. Fred was born in Mission, BC on February 6th, 1926. His family later moved to Rush Lake, SK, where he grew up mostly on a farm and worked for many of the local farmers. In 1945 he joined the Navy and served for five years. After the service he moved to Swift Current, SK and opened his own business, All Glaze Manufacturing. He later moved to White Horse and managed Northern Metalic Sales for two years. He retired in 1989 after managing Custom Glass in Vancouver for nine years. Fred was a very hard worker and also enjoyed dancing, traveling, cards and he was involved in volunteering for many organizations. He was also a Masonic Member. Fred was predeceased by his parents Alice and Louis Dupont, brothers Lornie, Frank and Leslie, his first wife Greta and daughter Debbie. Fred is survived by his loving wife Toy Dupont, daughters Shannon (Wayne) of Prince George, Shelly (Rod) of Prince Albert, and son Kim of Victoria, two step children Joyce Bracewell and Guy King, four sisters Marguerite of Kindersly, Betty of Victoria, Mona of Herbert and Lillian of Victoria and many nieces and nephews, fourteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandson. A Celebration of Fred’s life will be held on February, 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services (4417-29th Street Vernon, BC) with Pastor Lester Sather officiating. Those wishing to do so may make a memorial donation to the North Okanagan Hospice Society (3506 27 Ave, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4).
