It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Michael Whalen, aged 71 years. He passed peacefully in the company of his loving wife Tammy on April 1, 2013.

He will be missed by his family, including: his wife Tammy, their children Shannon, Jim, Sean, Corey and Travis, in addition to 11 grandchildren and four siblings - Patricia, Bill, Terry and Brian.

Jim was born November 3, 1941 in Port Alice, B.C. He and his wife Tammy married in Seattle in 1964. They moved to Kamloops in 1973 where he spent his career teaching mathematics to countless Kamloops students. He loved his family, golf, fishing and hunting ducks - in pretty much that order.

There will be a mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Kamloops at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, followed by a private family gathering.
